A yacht charter in Mallorca costs anywhere from about €285 a day for a small bareboat sailing yacht to €250,000 a week for a crewed superyacht. Both numbers are real. They just describe completely different products.

The mid-market — a 36–44ft sailing yacht or a 38–42ft catamaran, taken bareboat or with a skipper — sits roughly between €1,500 and €7,000 per week in 2026, depending on boat size and month. Crewed luxury charter starts at €25,000 a week for sailing yachts and catamarans and €50,000 for motor yachts, with Spanish VAT on top. At the lower end, boat rental in Mallorca for small motor boats and day charters starts under €500 a day.

Below is the breakdown by boat type, what the licence rules actually require, and which months cost least.

Sailing yacht charter prices in Mallorca

A bareboat sailing yacht in Mallorca starts at about €285 per day in 2026. By the week, a 35–40ft yacht runs from €1,500 in May to €4,500–5,000 at the height of summer.

The fleet is mostly production cruisers between 36 and over 44 feet — Bavaria Cruiser, Sun Odyssey and similar. A Bavaria Cruiser 36 sits at the bottom of the range; a Sun Odyssey 440 costs noticeably more for the extra cabin and waterline.

Tip: take the deposit insurance. On a week-long charter it costs less than one scraped gelcoat repair, and it removes the argument at handover.

Catamaran charter prices in Mallorca

Catamaran charter in Mallorca for 2026 ranges from €1,800–2,000 for a full-day trip to between €2,500 and €50,000 per week, depending on length, age, season and whether a skipper is included. A 38–42ft catamaran starts at €2,500 per week in the low season and rises to €6,000–7,000 in July and August.

The wide top end is not inflation — it’s vessel size. Mega-catamarans over 50ft with air conditioning, generator and crew are a different market from the family 40-footers most people are actually searching for.

Base port matters more than people expect. Shoulder-season weekly ranges for mid-size catamarans in 2026:

For summer 2026 out of Cala d’Or, 40–42ft catamarans start from €6,000 a week, 45–47ft runs €8,500–14,000, and 50ft+ luxury boats go from €18,000 to over €50,000 at peak. Croatia follows a similar curve — see our catamaran charter cost breakdown for Croatia if you’re comparing destinations.

Motor boat and motor yacht charter prices in Mallorca

Small motor boats for day trips in Mallorca start from around €490 per day in 2026, taken with or without a skipper. The luxury motor segment is a separate world: crewed motor yachts start at €50,000 a week.

The gap in the middle is real. Weekly rates for 40–55ft motor yachts are rarely published openly in Mallorca, so for that size you’ll be quoting by request rather than reading a price list. Fuel also behaves differently here: a motor boat burns in a day what a sailing yacht uses in a week.

Do you need a licence to rent a boat in Mallorca?

Yes — for bareboat charter in the Balearic Islands you need a recognised licence. Hire a skipper and the requirement disappears entirely, because the skipper carries the qualification and the responsibility.

The most widely accepted certificates are the ICC, the RYA Day Skipper Practical, or an equivalent national qualification. One person on board must also hold a VHF radio operator’s certificate.

Tip: bring the original licence card. A photo on your phone is regularly refused at handover.

If the licence route appeals, the Day Skipper theory course is where most people start.

Best time to charter a boat in Mallorca

May and October are the best value: warm water, steady wind, far fewer boats and prices well below the July–August peak. The sailing season runs from March to mid-October, with May to October giving the calmest seas and most consistent winds.

SeasonAir / conditionsPrice and crowds
Spring (Mar–May)15–22°C, light to moderate 10–15 knots; up to 6 Beaufort possible in March–AprilLowest weekly rates; Cala Pi and Cala Formentor far quieter than summer
Summer (Jun–Aug)25–32°C air, sea 24–27°C, afternoon sea breeze 10–20 knotsPeak prices, busiest anchorages
Autumn (Sep–Nov)20–28°C, wind builds in October to 10–18 knots, sea still warmShoulder rates, calm marinas
Winter (Dec–Feb)10–18°C air, sea 14–16°C, 15–25 knotsCheapest, but for experienced crews only

The daily rhythm is reliable in summer: 2–3 Beaufort building through the morning, up to 4 in the afternoon, dropping away in the evening. The Balearic Islands tourism board warns about Cap de Formentor specifically — the gusts there are much stronger than the forecast average, so check the weather before rounding it.

October gives you more sailing wind than August and emptier bays, at the cost of slightly shorter days.

If organising a charter yourself feels like too much

There is a third option between bareboat and a €25,000 crewed yacht: joining an existing skippered trip by the cabin. Yachting Retreat runs 7-day small-group sailing trips in Mallorca, led by certified skipper Sergey Tarasov, with 6–8 people on board and no licence or charter paperwork required from guests.

The Mallorca departure falls in October, at the end of the island’s May–October charter season. Route, boat, skipper and provisioning are handled; on day one part of the crew shops for the week, and the group cooks and eats on board. Our rules on board and FAQ page covers seasickness, swimming and food.

Who this isn’t for: if you already hold a licence and have your own crew, a straight bareboat charter for a weekend is cheaper and simpler. The group format makes sense when you want to sail without becoming the person responsible for the boat.

Dates and destinations are on the upcoming trips page. Send a request if you’d like help choosing between joining a trip and chartering your own boat.

Frequently asked questions about yacht charter in Mallorca

What’s included in a Mallorca yacht charter price?

A bareboat charter price in Mallorca covers the boat, its standard equipment and insurance, but not fuel, final cleaning, marina fees away from the home port, food or a skipper. A skipper costs €150–200 per day extra if you don’t hold a licence.

Is it cheaper to charter a boat from Alcúdia than from Palma?

Yes, usually slightly. Shoulder-season catamarans from Alcúdia run around €2,300–4,000 per week in 2026, against €2,500–5,500 from Palma, where demand and marina costs are higher.

Do I need a permit to sail to Cabrera from Mallorca?

Yes. The Cabrera Archipelago Maritime-Terrestrial National Park requires a navigation authorisation, which is free, applied for online and valid for a year. Anchoring is prohibited throughout the park, so you use the official mooring buoys.

How much extra does fuel or an APA add to a charter price?

On a bareboat sailing yacht fuel is minor — you mostly sail and pay for what you burn, refilling the tank before return. On crewed charters an APA (advance provisioning allowance) is charged separately on top of the weekly rate and covers fuel, food, drinks and port fees, and Spanish VAT applies to the charter itself.
